BIO

I’m an editor and writer, currently the editorial director at The Shed. I work on freelance editorial projects and write about art and books, in addition to my own poetry and creative projects. I contribute to the Brooklyn Rail, where I served as the senior editor of Art Books in Review, and have also taught literature, French language, college composition, and creative writing in the CUNY system, at the Cooper Union, and with Oxbridge Academic Programs.

I earned a PhD in French with a Critical Theory Certificate at the Graduate Center, CUNY, and my scholarly interests include poetics, visual art and visual studies, photography theory, performance studies, the avant-garde, and artistic collaboration.

I grew up in North Carolina and Atlanta and live in Brooklyn.
